An Cafe, also known as Antic Café, was a Japanese pop rock band. They started in 2003 and were known for their unique "oshare kei" style. This style is a type of Japanese street fashion that looks bright and cheerful. The band called their music "Harajuku Dance Rock." They released many albums and EPs.

An Cafe took a break in 2010 but came back in 2012. Later, in 2018, the band announced that all members except Miku would leave. They went on an indefinite break starting in January 2019.

History of An Cafe

An Cafe was formed in May 2003. The first members were Miku (vocals), Bou (guitar), and Kanon (bass). Even without a drummer, they started playing at events. Later, Teruki joined them as the drummer. He had been in another band before.

In 2004, An Cafe released their first demo songs. They also signed a record deal with a company called Loop Ash. Their first song, "Candyholic", came out in March. It became very popular, reaching second place on the Oricon indie singles chart. The band kept touring and releasing new music. Their first album, Shikisai Moment, was released in 2005. They released more songs in 2006. Then, their second album, Magnya Carta, came out. The name Magnya Carta is a fun play on words from "Magna Carta."

In 2007, An Cafe announced they would perform outside Japan for the first time. This was at an event called Project A-Kon. Soon after, their guitarist Bou left the band. His last show with An Cafe was on April 30, 2007. This show was even put on a DVD. After Bou left, two new members joined. Takuya became the new guitarist, and Yu-ki joined as the keyboard player. Their first new songs with this lineup were "Kakusei Heroism" and "Ryūsei Rocket". By the end of 2007, An Cafe planned their first tour in Europe for 2008.

In early 2008, An Cafe announced a new song, "Cherry Saku Yuki!!", for February. They also announced their next album, Gokutama Rock Cafe, which was released on April 9, 2008.

An Cafe released an EP (a shorter album) called Harajuku Dance Rock on March 13, 2009. This special release was just for fans in North America and Europe.

BB Parallel World, An Cafe's fourth album, was released in Japan on September 9, 2009. It came out in Europe on October 6, 2009. This album included popular songs like "Aroma" and "Summer Dive."

In 2010, An Cafe announced they would take a break. They said they would not break up, but each member would work on their own projects. This was to prepare for the band to start up again later. Their last show before the break was on January 4, 2010, at the Nippon Budokan.

During the break, the band members worked on other things. Kanon worked on a mobile phone game. He also appeared as a guest DJ at an event. Miku became the singer for a new band called Lc5. Teruki played drums for another band.

On April 1, 2012, An Cafe announced they were coming back! They planned a world tour in November called "An CaFesta '12 Summer Dive." On May 30, they announced a mini-album called Amazing Blue. This was their first new music after their two-year break. The next year, they planned to release three songs in a row. They also planned a big tour to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The tour ended on January 4, 2014, at the Nippon Budokan.

The band played in Canada for the first time at Animethon on August 9, 2014. They also performed in Brazil and Mexico that year.

Their first big album with a new record label was Laugh Song, released in 2017.

On June 22, 2018, An Cafe announced they would go on an indefinite break. This meant all members except Miku would leave the band. Their very last concert was on January 9, 2019, in Tokyo. This final concert was later released on DVD.
