Andreas Weimann (born 5 August 1991) is an Austrian professional footballer. He plays as a forward or attacking midfielder for Championship club Blackburn Rovers. He also plays for the Austria national team.
Andreas joined Aston Villa when he was sixteen. He had come from Rapid Wien. He played 129 games for Aston Villa and scored 24 goals. In 2015, he moved to Derby County. He then played on loan for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017. In July 2018, he signed with Bristol City.
Weimann first played for the senior Austrian national team in 2012. He has played more than 20 games for his country.

Club Career
Starting Out in Austria
Andreas Weimann was born in Vienna, Austria. He started his football journey at a local club called FC Stadlau. When he was thirteen, he joined Rapid Wien, a bigger club in his hometown. He played there for three years. He still supports Rapid Wien today!
Time at Aston Villa
Joining a Premier League Club
In 2007, Andreas was signed by Premier League club Aston Villa in England. He joined at the same time as another Austrian player, Dominik Hofbauer.
Andreas played a big part in Aston Villa's youth teams. In the 2009–10 season, he was the top scorer for the Reserve South League with nine goals. Because he played so well, he signed a new contract to stay with the club until 2012.
In May 2010, Andreas was considered for Aston Villa's senior team. He also helped the Aston Villa team win the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament, scoring three goals in one game.
First Team Debut
Andreas made his first official appearance for Aston Villa on 14 August 2010. He came on as a substitute in a 3–0 win against West Ham United. A few days later, he played in a UEFA Europa League match against his old club, Rapid Wien. Unfortunately, he got injured in that game and was out until January 2011. When he returned, he scored two goals in his first reserve game back!
Loan Spells at Watford
On 19 January 2011, Andreas joined Football League Championship club Watford on loan. He played his first game for Watford ten days later in an FA Cup match. He scored his first league goal for Watford on 1 February in a 1–1 draw against Crystal Palace. He played 19 games for Watford and scored 4 goals.
Andreas returned to Aston Villa in August 2011. He signed a new contract that would keep him at Villa Park until 2014. Soon after, he went back to Watford for a second loan spell. However, he was called back early by Aston Villa due to injuries in their squad.
Back at Aston Villa
After returning to Aston Villa, Andreas scored his first goal for the club on 10 March 2012. It was a late goal in the 92nd minute that gave Villa a 1–0 win over Fulham.
He had a fantastic season in 2012–13. On 10 November 2012, he scored two goals against Manchester United. He also scored twice against Norwich City in the League Cup, helping Villa reach the semi-finals. He scored again in the League Cup semi-final against Bradford City, but Villa lost the game overall. He finished that season with 12 goals in 38 games.
In the 2013–14 season, Andreas continued to score important goals. He scored a long-range shot against Rotherham United in the League Cup. He also scored the winning goal against Manchester City. Towards the end of the season, he scored two goals against Hull City, which helped Aston Villa stay in the Premier League.
For the 2014–15 season, Andreas scored the only goal in Villa's first game against Stoke City. He also scored in an FA Cup match against Bournemouth.
Moving to Derby County
On 18 June 2015, Andreas joined Derby County. He signed a four-year contract. He scored his first goal for Derby in a 3–0 win against Rotherham United on 31 October.
In January 2017, Andreas went on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers. He made his debut a couple of days later. On 28 January, he scored his first goal for Wolves in an FA Cup win against Liverpool at their home stadium, Anfield.
Time at Bristol City
On 3 July 2018, Andreas signed with Bristol City. He signed a three-year contract. On 30 March 2019, he scored his first ever hat-trick (three goals in one game) as Bristol City beat Sheffield United 3–2. This was a special moment, as it was the first time a Bristol City player had scored an away hat-trick in the top two English leagues since 1978!
In October 2020, Andreas suffered a serious knee injury. He was out of action for many months. However, he came back strong! In the 2021–22 season, he scored 22 league goals, which was his best goal-scoring season ever.
On 15 January 2024, Andreas joined West Bromwich Albion on loan. He scored his first goal for them on 3 February 2024, a late winning goal against local rivals Birmingham City. After the 2023–24 season, Andreas left Bristol City when his contract ended.
Joining Blackburn Rovers
On 1 August 2024, Andreas Weimann signed a one-year deal with Blackburn Rovers. He scored his first goal for the club on his very first game, in a 4–2 win against Derby County.
International Career

Andreas Weimann has played for Austria at different youth levels, including under-17, under-19, and under-21 teams. He scored a goal on his under-21 debut against Scotland in 2009.
In July 2010, he was part of the Austria U-19 squad for a big European tournament. He played in all three of Austria's games there.
On 12 October 2012, Andreas made his debut for the senior Austria national team. This was in a World Cup qualifying match against Kazakhstan.
In March 2022, Andreas was called back to the Austrian senior team after seven years! On 10 June that year, he scored his first international goal for Austria against France. This goal gave Austria the lead in a UEFA Nations League game that ended in a 1–1 draw.
