Andrew Austin Wyatt Hawkins (born March 10, 1986) is a former American professional football player. He was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons. He played for the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. Before that, he played two seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Montreal Alouettes. With the Alouettes, he helped them win two Grey Cup Championships in a row. Hawkins also played college football for the Toledo Rockets. He announced his retirement from football in July 2017.

Early Life and High School Sports
Andrew Hawkins grew up in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He went to Bishop McCort High School. There, he was a star in both football and track.
Football Achievements
In high school football, Hawkins played as a running back. In his senior year, he ran for 562 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. He was recognized as one of the best defensive backs in the state. He was also named an All-conference running back.
Track and Field
Hawkins was also very fast on the track. He competed in sprinting and jumping events. He ran the 100 meters in 11.33 seconds. He also participated in the long jump and triple jump.
College Football Career
Hawkins decided to go to the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. He played for the Toledo Rockets football team. What made him special was that he played two different positions: wide receiver and cornerback. He was the first player in 48 years at Toledo to play both offense and defense!
Over his four years in college, he played in 37 games. He caught 67 passes for 1,107 yards and scored five touchdowns as a receiver. As a cornerback, he helped his team by forcing two fumbles and blocking a punt.
Professional Football Journey
After college, Andrew Hawkins was not immediately drafted by an NFL team. He worked out with the Cleveland Browns in 2008 but didn't sign a contract that year.
Starting in the CFL
In December 2008, Hawkins signed with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Before playing his first CFL season, he tried out for the Dallas Cowboys on a reality TV show called 4th and Long. He was the runner-up on the show.
Hawkins then played two seasons with the Alouettes. He scored his first CFL touchdown in October 2009. Even though his stats weren't huge, he was a key part of the team. He helped the Alouettes win back-to-back Grey Cup championships in 2009 and 2010.
Moving to the NFL
In January 2011, Hawkins signed with the St. Louis Rams of the NFL. However, he was released by the Rams later that year.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals picked up Hawkins in August 2011. He quickly became a "fan favorite" among Bengals fans, who called him "Baby Hawk." In his first season, he caught 23 passes for 263 yards.
In 2012, Hawkins had a great season with the Bengals. He played in 14 games and caught 51 passes for 533 yards. He also scored four touchdowns that year. In 2013, he had an ankle injury but returned to play in the final eight games of the season.
Cleveland Browns
In March 2014, Hawkins signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns. He became a big part of their offense. In his first year with the Browns, he led the team with 63 catches for 824 yards and two touchdowns. He played for the Browns until February 2017.
New England Patriots and Retirement
Hawkins signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots in May 2017. However, just a few days before training camp, he announced his retirement from the NFL in July 2017.

Life Outside of Football
Andrew Hawkins comes from a family of athletes. His older brother, Artrell Hawkins, also played in the NFL as a cornerback. His cousin, Geroy Simon, was a retired CFL slotback, and another cousin, Carlton Haselrig, played offensive guard in the NFL.
Hawkins is a Christian and has often spoken about how his faith has guided him. He believes his journey in football taught him valuable lessons and made him a better person.
In 2017, Hawkins earned a master's degree in sports management from Columbia University. He achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA!
Career in Media
After retiring from football, Andrew Hawkins started a career in media.
