Anna Eira Margarida Heiskari (born on February 7, 1990), known professionally as ABREU since 2017, is a Finnish singer and songwriter. She became famous in Finland after being the runner-up in the TV singing competition Idols in 2007.
Abreu's music is mostly pop, with influences from R&B, dance, and Latin styles. She is one of the most successful singers from Idols in Finland. Her record sales are over 190,000 copies, making her one of the top 100 best-selling music artists in Finland ever.

Early Life and Background
Anna Abreu was born in Vantaa, Finland. Her father is Portuguese, and her mother is Finnish. She has an older brother named Emil. When she was a young child, Anna lived in Portugal for some time. Because of this, she speaks Finnish, Portuguese, Spanish, and English fluently. Her parents later separated, and her father now lives in Sintra, Portugal.
Music Career Highlights
Starting with Idols (2006–2007)
In the summer of 2006, Anna Abreu auditioned for the third season of Finnish Pop Idol in Helsinki. She was only sixteen years old, but the judges were very impressed by her powerful voice. She sang "Fallin'" by Alicia Keys and "Jumala" by Apulanta.
Anna made it through to the live finals. She had a lot of public support. In the grand finale, she competed against Ari Koivunen. On April 5, 2007, Ari Koivunen won, and Anna Abreu became the runner-up.
First Album Success (2007–2008)
After Idols, Anna Abreu signed with Sony BMG Finland. Her first song, "End of Love," came out in July 2007. It quickly reached number eight on the singles chart.
Her first album, Anna Abreu, was released in August 2007. It went straight to number one and sold 30,000 copies in its first week! This was one of the highest first-week sales in Finnish music history. The album's second song, "Ivory Tower," also became popular. By March 2008, her debut album had sold over 86,000 copies.
Second Album: Now (2008–2009)
After touring for her first album, Anna started working on her second. The first song from it, "Vinegar," was released in July 2008. This dance-style song became her first number one hit in Finland.
Her second album, Now, came out in October 2008. It also reached number one and sold over 50,000 copies, becoming a platinum album. Now was the best-selling album in Finland in 2008.
Third Album: Just a Pretty Face? (2009–2010)
In August 2009, Anna announced her third album. The first song, "Music Everywhere," was released and reached number two on the charts. This album focused even more on dance and club music.
Anna also went on a joint tour called the Pop Royalty Tour with fellow Idols contestant Antti Tuisku in 2010. Tickets sold out very quickly! Her third album, Just A Pretty Face?, was released in October 2009. It sold 23,000 copies on its first day and quickly became her third platinum album. It was the sixth highest-selling album of 2009.
Fourth Album: Rush (2010–2012)
In late 2010, Anna began working on her fourth album, Rush. The first song, "Hysteria," was released in January 2011. Her fourth album came out in March 2011 and became her third album to reach number one on the charts.
Greatest Hits and a Break (2012–Present)
In 2011, Anna announced she would release a Greatest Hits album. After that, she took a break from music for a while.
Personal Life
Anna Abreu married Finnish professional snowboarder Lauri Heiskari on June 20, 2013. While she officially took his surname, she continues to use her maiden name, Abreu, for her music career. Anna is Catholic.

Anna Abreu has won several important awards for her music. She has won multiple Emma Awards, which are like the Finnish Grammy Awards. She won "Female Soloist of the Year" in 2008 and 2009, and "Domestic Artist of the Year" in 2009. She was also nominated for "Best Finnish Act" at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2008 and 2011.
