The Mount Roraima Rocket Frog (Anomaloglossus roraima) is a small frog. It belongs to the Aromobatidae family. This family includes many types of poison dart frogs. However, the Mount Roraima Rocket Frog is not known to be poisonous.
This special frog lives in South America. You can find it on the flat-topped mountains called tepui. These mountains are in southeastern Venezuela and western Guyana. Scientists also think it might live in nearby Brazil.
Where It Lives
The Mount Roraima Rocket Frog was first discovered on Mount Roraima. This is a famous tepui mountain. These frogs like to live in large plants called bromeliads. Bromeliads are like big air plants. They often hold water in their leaves.
The frogs live in high places. They are found in mountain scrub and meadows. These areas are very high up. They live between 1,860 and 2,700 meters (about 6,100 to 8,860 feet) above sea level. That's higher than many clouds!
Why It's Special
This frog is quite rare. Scientists believe there are not many of them. One reason they are rare is because of people visiting their habitat. Tourists can sometimes disturb the areas where these frogs live.
Protecting this frog is important. It lives in Canaima National Park in Venezuela. This park helps protect many animals and plants. It also helps keep the frog's home safe.
