Anthony "Spice" Adams (born June 18, 1980) is an American television host, actor, comedian, and former professional football player. He played as a defensive tackle for nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions, Adams was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2003 NFL draft. He played four seasons with the 49ers, and then for the Chicago Bears from 2007 to 2011.

After his football career, Adams became very popular on social media and television. He was even a co-host of The Great American Baking Show, which is the American version of The Great British Bake Off.

Early Life and College Football

Adams went to Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School in Detroit, Michigan. He then studied at Pennsylvania State University. He played football for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team from 1999 to 2002. He was recognized for his good grades and his strong play.

During his time in college, he made many tackles and sacks. In his final year, he had 67 tackles and 13 tackles-for-loss. His team, the Nittany Lions, played in the 2003 Capital One Bowl. Adams graduated with a business degree in 2003.

Before the 2003 NFL draft, Adams played in the Senior Bowl. His team, representing the North, won the game 17–0.

Playing for the San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers picked Adams in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft. He was the 57th player chosen overall. The 49ers needed new defensive players, and Adams helped fill that need.

Adams played for the 49ers for four seasons. He ended his time with the team having made 155 tackles and six sacks in 58 games.

Playing for the Chicago Bears

On March 25, 2007, Adams signed a four-year contract with the Chicago Bears. He was seen as a quick player who fit well with the Bears' defense. In 2010, he started all 16 regular season games and all of the Bears' playoff games. He also won the Brian Piccolo Award that year.

The next season, he played in 11 games but only started four. He was released by the Bears on February 26, 2012.

Adams announced that he was retiring from football on March 24, 2013, using a video on YouTube. In his nine seasons, he was mainly a depth player, meaning he helped fill in when needed. He finished his career with 278 tackles and 10.5 sacks.

Personal Life

Anthony Adams is married to Andenika, and they have four children. His teammates gave him nicknames. Former 49ers teammate Bryant Young called him "Double A." His Penn State teammates nicknamed him "Spice." Adams was also voted "Mama's Boy" in high school.

He is a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. In 2012, Adams made a series of videos on YouTube. These videos were about what life was like as an NFL free agent. On May 5, 2013, Adams earned his master's degree in Business Administration. He got this degree from George Washington University.

Helping the Community

Since 2006, Adams has been involved with Youthville. This is a program in his hometown of Detroit. He once gave away two Super Bowl XL tickets. He gave them to the student who improved their grades the most. In 2009, Adams visited several Chicago Public Schools. He helped students write letters to troops overseas. These letters were for soldiers serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Media Career

While playing for the 49ers, Adams was a blogger. He also hosted an online show with teammate Mike Adams. The show was called The Adams Report.

On September 14, 2013, Adams started hosting a weekly show. It was a half-hour show called Inside the Bears. It aired on WFLD and WPWR-TV.

In 2016, Adams started a role on the HBO series Ballers. On September 21, 2017, he was announced as a new host for The Great American Baking Show. This show is an American version of a popular British baking show. It airs on ABC.

Adams is very well known for his Instagram account. He posts funny videos there using the username "spiceadams." Many of his characters and skits have become very popular since 2018. For example, his catchphrase "ahaha" became a popular meme on Twitter. Also, a photo of him hiding behind a tree in a bright yellow suit became famous. In the photo, he is rubbing his hands together and looking like he really wants something.
