Antje Traue (born January 18, 1981) is a talented German actress. She began acting in plays when she was sixteen years old in 1997. Her first movie role was in the German film Verlorene Kinder in 2000. She then got her first English-speaking role in the 2009 movie Pandorum.
Around the world, Antje Traue is best known for playing the villain Faora-Ul in the DC Extended Universe films Man of Steel (2013) and The Flash (2023). She is also famous for her role as Agnes Nielsen in the German Netflix series Dark.

Early Life and Beginnings
Antje Traue was born in Mittweida, Saxony, which was part of East Germany at the time. Her mother was a dancer and musician. Antje can speak both German and English very well.
From age six, she trained as an artistic gymnast in a special training group. Her acting journey started when she played Jeanne d'Arc in a school play. When she was sixteen, she won the main role in a musical called "West End Opera." This was the first "Hip Hopera" by the International Munich Art Lab.
Acting Career
Antje Traue performed and toured with the "West End Opera" show for four years. She acted on stages across Germany, Europe, and even in New York City. After this, Traue appeared in several movies and TV films. Some of these early works include Kleinruppin Forever, Berlin by the Sea , and Phantom Pain .
In 2008, Antje Traue was chosen for the main female role in the science fiction thriller Pandorum. This movie was directed by Christian Alvart and also starred Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster.
Becoming Faora-Ul
In 2013, Traue played the powerful villain Faora-Ul in the Superman movie Man of Steel. Her performance received many good reviews. To get ready for the role of Faora, Traue followed a very strict four-month training and diet plan.
Later Roles
In 2014, Traue appeared as Bony Lizzie in the action-fantasy film Seventh Son. She also earned praise in Germany for her role as Giselle Neumayer in the 2016 TV movie Fatal Newsminiseries Weinberg and Berlin 1.
. She was nominated for best actress in German TV productions in 2016 for her main roles in theSince then, she has acted in many German and international movies and TV shows. These include the 2017 movie Bye Bye Germany with actor Moritz Bleibtreu and the 2017 Amazon series pilot episode Oasis. In 2017 and 2018, Traue also appeared in the German Netflix series Dark as Agnes Nielsen. She was also in German movies like Das Ende der Wahrheit, Spielmacher, and Ballon. In 2019, Traue was the main star in the German ZDFneo TV miniseries Dead End.
Antje Traue returned to her role as Faora-Ul in the movie The Flash, which came out in 2023.
Personal Life
Antje Traue used to be in a relationship with actor Ben Foster. She moved to Los Angeles to live with him.
