Antje Traue is a German actress born on January 18, 1981. She began acting in plays when she was 16 years old. Her first movie role was in a German film in 2000. She got her first English-speaking role in the 2009 movie Pandorum.
Around the world, she is famous for playing the villain Faora-Ul. She played this character in the DC Extended Universe movies Man of Steel (2013) and The Flash (2023). She is also known for her role as Agnes Nielsen in the German Netflix series Dark.

Antje Traue's Early Life and Background
Antje Traue was born in Mittweida, Saxony. This area was part of what was called East Germany back then. Her mother was a dancer and a musician. Antje speaks both German and English very well.
From age six until she was a teenager, she trained as an artistic gymnast. She was part of an elite training group. Her acting journey started when she played Jeanne d'Arc in a school play. When she was 16, she won the main role in a musical called "West End Opera." This was the first "Hip Hopera" by the International Munich Art Lab.

Antje Traue performed in "West End Opera" for four years. She toured with the show across Germany, Europe, and even in New York City. After that, she appeared in several movies and TV films. Some of these included Kleinruppin Forever and Berlin by the Sea.
Getting Big Roles in Movies
In 2008, Antje Traue was chosen for the main female role in Pandorum. This was a science fiction thriller movie. It was directed by Christian Alvart and starred Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster.
In 2013, Traue played the villain Faora-Ul in the Superman movie Man of Steel. Her performance received many good reviews. To get ready for the role of Faora, Antje trained very hard for four months. She also followed a strict diet.

In 2014, Traue played Bony Lizzie in the action-fantasy movie Seventh Son. She also received praise in Germany for her role as Giselle Neumayer. This was in the 2016 TV movie Fatal News
. She was nominated for best actress in German TV productions in 2016. These nominations were for her main roles in the miniseries Weinberg and Berlin 1.Since then, she has been in many German and international movies and TV shows. She has played main roles or important supporting roles. These include the 2017 movie Bye Bye Germany with actor Moritz Bleibtreu. She also appeared in the 2017 Amazon series pilot episode Oasis.
In 2017 and 2018, Traue also appeared in the German Netflix series Dark as Agnes Nielsen. She was also in German movies like Das Ende der Wahrheit, Spielmacher, and Ballon. In 2019, Traue was the main star in the German ZDFneo TV miniseries Dead End. She returned to her role as Faora-Ul in The Flash, which was released in 2023.
