Early Career: 2001–2008
Aravane played for Iran in the Women's Islamic Games. She won gold medals in 2001 and 2005. She also won the Chambon-sur-Lignon Open in 2004.
In 2006, Aravane started playing for France. She reached the third round of the French Open. She also made it to the fourth round of the US Open. This was her best result in a major tournament. She also won an ITF tournament in France.
In 2007, Aravane had a great run at the Istanbul WTA tournament. She beat world No. 29, Venus Williams, and world No. 2, Maria Sharapova. She reached the final but had to stop playing because of an injury. At Wimbledon, she reached the third round. She won another ITF title in France later that year.
In 2008, Aravane reached the final of the Auckland Open. She lost to Lindsay Davenport. At the Australian Open, she made it to the third round. She beat the 13th seed, Tatiana Golovin, in a tough match.

In 2009, Aravane won her first big title in Strasbourg. She beat Lucie Hradecká in the final. She then reached the fourth round of the French Open.
