Arboldswil was first written about in the year 1226. Back then, its name was Arboldswilre.

Arboldswil covers an area of about 3.48 square kilometers (1.34 square miles). A big part of this land, about 51%, is used for farming. Forests cover another large portion, about 41% of the area. The remaining land, about 6%, has buildings and roads.
This town is found in the Waldenburg district. It sits on a flat area in the Jura Mountains, between two valleys called Waldenburger and Reigoldswiler.
