The arrondissement of Loches is a special kind of administrative area in France. Think of it like a district or a sub-region within a larger department. It's located in the Indre-et-Loire department, which is part of the Centre-Val de Loire region. The main town and capital of this arrondissement is Loches.

History of Loches Arrondissement

The Loches arrondissement has an interesting history. It was first created in 1800. This happened when the Indre-et-Loire department was officially formed.

Later, in 1926, the Loches arrondissement was actually removed. But it didn't stay gone for long! It was brought back and made an arrondissement again in 1943.

Where is Loches Arrondissement?

The Loches arrondissement is found in the southeastern part of the Indre-et-Loire department. It shares its borders with several other areas. To the north, it's next to the Tours arrondissement. To the northeast, it borders the Loir-et-Cher department.

On its eastern and southeastern sides, it's next to the Indre department. The Vienne department is to its southwest. Finally, to the west, it borders the Chinon arrondissement.
