Amboise is a historic town in central France. It is located in the beautiful Loire Valley, within the Indre-et-Loire department. In 2014, about 13,371 people lived there. The town covers an area of about 40.65 square kilometers (15.7 square miles).
Amboise is well-known for its amazing Château d'Amboise. This grand castle dates back to the 15th century. King Charles VIII once lived here. You can explore royal chambers, lovely gardens, and even secret underground passages.
One of the most famous people buried in Amboise is Leonardo da Vinci. His tomb is located at the Château d'Amboise.
Near Amboise, you'll find Château du Clos Lucé. This was Leonardo da Vinci's home for the last few years of his life. He lived there until his death in 1519. Today, it's a small museum. It displays working models of many of his incredible designs and inventions.

Amboise is easy to reach by different ways.
By Road
Several main roads pass through Amboise. These include the D31, D61, D81, D83, D431, D751, and D952. They connect the town to other areas.
By Train
Amboise has its own train station. This makes it simple to travel to and from the town by rail.
By Air
If you prefer to fly, there is an airport about 20 kilometers (12 miles) away. It is located in the city of Tours.
