History
The Lure arrondissement was created a long time ago, in 1800. It was one of the first districts set up in the Haute-Saône department.
Geography
The Lure arrondissement is the most northern part of the Haute-Saône department. It is the smallest arrondissement in terms of land size. Its area is about 1,848.3 square kilometers (about 713.6 square miles).
It also has the fewest people living in it. In 2014, about 108,725 people lived there. This means the population density is about 58.8 people per square kilometer.
