The arrondissement of Villeneuve-sur-Lot is an arrondissement of France. It is part of the Lot-et-Garonne département. Its capital is the city of Villeneuve-sur-Lot.

It is in the northeast of Lot-et-Garonne, with an area of 1,559.7 km2 (602 sq mi), the largest arrondissement of the department. It has 90,820 inhabitants and a population density of 58.2 inhabitants/km².

History

When the Lot-et-Garonne department was created on 17 February 1800, the arrondissement of Villeneuve-sur-Lot was part of that original department.

Geography

The arrondissement is bordered to the north by the Dordogne department, to the east by the Lot department, to the southeast by the Tarn-et-Garonne department, to the south by the arrondissement of Agen and to the west by the arrondissement of Marmande.
