Asif Basra (born 27 July 1967 – died 12 November 2020) was a talented Indian actor. He worked in many Bollywood films and TV shows. People in Western countries might know him best from the movie Outsourced. He also acted in many other popular films and plays. Basra passed away in 2020.
Early Life and Education
Asif Basra was born on 27 July 1967 in Amravati, a city in Maharashtra, India. In 1989, he moved to Mumbai. There, he studied at Mumbai University. While in college, he loved acting in plays. He often won awards for the different characters he played. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics.
Acting Career Highlights
Asif Basra was known for his strong acting skills. He appeared in important films like Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday. He also acted in Rahul Dholakia's Parzania. Both of these movies were praised by critics.
He worked with famous actors like Omar Sharif and Peter O'Toole in the movie One Night with the King. In the Hindi film Lamhaa, he played a tailor. He was also in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, a very popular Bollywood film from 2010. In that movie, he played the father of the character Shoaib.
Basra was also a well-known theatre actor. He once played five different characters in a play called Mahatma v/s Gandhi. He also played a child with spina bifida in Main Bhi Superman. Another famous role was playing Horatio in the classic play Hamlet.
