Plot
This special episode is split into two parts, each focusing on one of the shows.
Part 1 - Austin & Ally: "Big Dreams & Big Apples"
Austin (Ross Lynch), Ally (Laura Marano), Dez (Calum Worthy), and Trish (Raini Rodriguez) head to New York City. Austin is supposed to perform at Times Square on New Year's Eve. However, Trish accidentally booked him at "Tim's Square Pizza" instead of the famous Times Square!
Trish quickly tries to fix her mistake. She uses Jimmy Starr's computer to talk to a music agent. Luckily, the mix-up is sorted out. But then, more trouble hits! Their plane has mechanical problems and has to land in Philadelphia.
Meanwhile, the story switches to Jessie (Debby Ryan) and Emma (Peyton List). Emma is super excited when she hears Austin is performing. Even though Jessie isn't thrilled, she agrees to take Emma to Times Square. They try to take a taxi to New York, but they get kicked out because they can't pay the long-distance fare.
As both groups try to reach Times Square, security stops Austin. Finally, the six friends meet up. Jessie saves the day by flying Austin to the stage in the Ross family's helicopter. This saves Austin's contract with Starr Records, which would have been canceled.
Part 2 - Jessie: "Nanny in Miami"
After Austin's performance, Bertram (Kevin Chamberlin), Luke (Cameron Boyce), and Ravi (Karan Brar) arrive. They tell Jessie that Zuri (Skai Jackson) got lost in the crowd. She is stuck on the Times Square Ball!
They try to rescue Zuri, even though it's only six minutes until midnight. They succeed, but Luke and Ravi accidentally cause a power outage in New York City. Jessie lets Austin and his friends stay at the Ross apartment. She hopes Austin will record one of her songs. There, they meet the rest of the Ross family.
Later, Jessie and the kids travel to Miami. Austin and Jessie are set to sing a duet at Austin's next concert. Ally reads Jessie's song lyrics and doesn't think they are very good. Jessie then accidentally steals Zuri's poem and pretends it's hers. To keep Zuri from finding out, Jessie even cuts Austin's guitar strings!
When Zuri eventually discovers what happened, she still gives Jessie credit. Zuri knows how much it means to Jessie, especially since her own acting and creative writing didn't work out. In the end, Austin and Jessie perform a memorable duet. Jessie gives Zuri credit for the song. Dez also creates an amazing music video, making everyone happy.
