Karan Brar (born January 18, 1999) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing Chirag Gupta in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies. He also starred as Ravi Ross on the Disney Channel Original Series Jessie and its spin-off show Bunk'd.

Early Life and Beginnings
Karan Brar was born on January 18, 1999. His birthplace was Redmond, Washington, in the U.S. His parents are from Punjabi backgrounds. He grew up in Bothell, Washington, and has an older sister named Sabreena.
Karan went to Cedar Wood Elementary School. He started learning acting at workshops like John Robert Powers and Patti Kalles.
Karan Brar's Acting Career
Karan Brar started acting when he was 11 years old. His first big role was Chirag Gupta in the movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Chirag was an Indian middle schooler. Karan naturally speaks with an American accent. He worked with a special coach to learn an Indian accent for the role.
Continuing the Wimpy Kid Series
In March 2011, Karan played Chirag Gupta again. This was in the movie sequel Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. Later, in October 2011, it was confirmed he would be in the third Wimpy Kid movie. This film was called Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, and it came out on August 3, 2012.
In April 2010, Karan also appeared in some advertisements. He was in a campaign for the Dalai Lama's visit to Seattle. He also appeared in commercials for Shell Gasoline and Committee for Children.
Starring in Disney Shows
From 2011 to 2015, Karan Brar starred in the Disney Channel show Jessie. He played Ravi Ross, an adopted Indian boy. The character of Ravi was first planned to be a South American boy named Javier. But the casting directors were very impressed with Karan during his audition. So, they changed the character just for him.
In February 2015, Disney announced a spin-off show from Jessie called Bunk'd. Karan continued his role as Ravi Ross in this new series. That same year, he played George in the Disney Channel movie Invisible Sister. In 2018, he had a small part in the science fiction movie Pacific Rim Uprising.
Personal Life
Karan Brar lived in the Los Angeles area with his parents and older sister for a while. In May 2019, he moved in with fellow actors Cameron Boyce and Sophie Reynolds. On November 30, 2023, Karan wrote an essay for Teen Vogue. In it, he shared about facing challenges with his mental health.
