Cameron Mica Boyce (born May 28, 1999 – died July 6, 2019) was a talented American actor. He started acting when he was very young. He appeared in movies like Mirrors and Eagle Eye in 2008. He also starred in the comedy film Grown Ups (2010) and its sequel in 2013.
Cameron's first main role was on the Disney Channel show Jessie. He played Luke Ross from 2011 to 2015. He became even more famous as Carlos in the musical fantasy Descendants movies. He was in all three films from 2015 to 2019.
He also voiced Jake in the Disney Junior series Jake and the Never Land Pirates. From 2015 to 2017, Cameron played the main character in the Disney XD comedy series Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything. Sadly, Cameron passed away in 2019 at age 20. This was due to health problems from epilepsy. After his death, he appeared in the film Runt (2020). He was also in the TV show Paradise City (2021).

Cameron's Early Life
Cameron Boyce was born in Los Angeles, California, on May 28, 1999. His father, Victor Boyce, was African-American. His mother, Libby Boyce, was Jewish.
His grandmother, Jo Ann Boyce, was a very important person. She was one of the Clinton Twelve. These were the first African-American students to attend an integrated high school in the Southern United States in 1956. This happened because of the Brown v. Board of Education ruling.
Cameron lived in Los Angeles with his parents and younger sister. He loved to dance. He was trained in many styles, including breakdancing, hip-hop, and ballet. Breakdancing was his favorite. He was part of a breakdancing group called "X Mob" with four of his friends.
Cameron's Acting Career
Cameron started his acting journey in May 2008. He appeared in a music video for "That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)". He played a younger version of a band member. In July 2008, he had a role in the show General Hospital: Night Shift.
Later in 2008, he made his first movie appearance in the horror film Mirrors. He also appeared in the movie Eagle Eye that same year. In June 2010, Cameron starred as Keith in the comedy film Grown Ups. He played the son of Adam Sandler's character. He also showed off his dance moves in a web series called The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.
In April 2011, Cameron was a guest star on the Disney Channel show Good Luck Charlie. He was also a dancer in a special tribute on Dancing with the Stars. This tribute was for a royal wedding. In June 2011, he had a small part in the family comedy film Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.
In August 2011, he was a featured dancer on Disney Channel's Shake It Up. In September 2011, Cameron got a main role as Luke Ross on Disney Channel's Jessie. The role was actually changed just for him because the casting directors were so impressed.
In 2015, Cameron was a main actor in Disney Channel's Descendants. He played Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil. He played Carlos again in the animated shorts Descendants: Wicked World. He also returned for the movie sequels Descendants 2 and Descendants 3. The last movie was released after he passed away.
In March 2018, Cameron was cast in a TV pilot called Steps. He also got a role in the independent film Runt. In January 2019, he joined the cast of HBO's Mrs. Fletcher. In April 2019, Cameron performed in a music video for the song "Almost (Sweet Music)" by Hozier. He helped create the dance for the video.
After his passing, a documentary called Showbiz Kids was released on HBO in 2020. It included interviews with Cameron. The film was dedicated to him. He was also supposed to work on a new project with Adam Sandler. The movie, Hubie Halloween, was released in 2020 and included a special message honoring Cameron.
Cameron's Passing
Cameron Boyce passed away on July 6, 2019. He was 20 years old. His death was caused by an epileptic seizure.
Helping Others and His Legacy
Cameron was very passionate about helping others. In just 40 days in 2017, he helped raise over $27,000 for the Thirst Project. This organization helps bring clean water to countries that need it. In September 2019, the Thirst Project renamed an award after him. It is now called the Cameron Boyce Pioneering Spirit Award. This was to honor his amazing work with them.
He also supported United Way of America's efforts to end homelessness. He helped raise money for their HomeWalk event. He continued to support this cause throughout his life. In May 2019, he took part in the opening ceremony for the 12th annual HomeWalk in Los Angeles. This is one of the biggest events to help end homelessness in the U.S.
Cameron also worked with the Lucstrong Foundation. This foundation gives money to families whose children have sickle cell disease and are going through bone marrow transplants.
His last project to help people was called Wielding Peace. This was a social media campaign with Delaney Tarr, who helped start March for Our Lives. Cameron wanted the campaign to "help fight against gun violence." It would show famous people and survivors "wielding" a new kind of weapon: unity.
The Cameron Boyce Foundation
After Cameron's death in 2019, his family started The Cameron Boyce Foundation. This is a non-profit organization. It helps young people find artistic and creative ways to express themselves. It also uses its resources to make positive changes in the world.
On July 25, 2019, the foundation announced its first project would be Wielding Peace. This project officially started on August 16, 2019. The foundation later gave $8,000 to the Thirst Project. This money helped build a well in Uganda.
