What is BB3B About?
The series is all about twin kids, Lucy and Louie, and their worries about their new baby brother, Billy Bob. The name BB3B actually stands for "Billy Bob Third Baby."
The main idea is that the twins think their baby brother is an alien! They go on wild adventures trying to prove it and stop him from taking over the world. Chubba, a teenage boy who loves pizza, often babysits the twins. He sometimes even believes their alien theories.
The show takes place in a made-up American city called Sunnyfield. The family lives in the suburbs. The twins' grandmother lives in a trailer right in their front garden!
Fun Facts About the Show
Each episode starts with the local postman trying to deliver mail. Something strange always happens to him at the mailbox. He might turn into a fish or get messed up in some funny way. He sometimes shows up later in the episode too.
The story is set in America. The dad's mom, Nana, moved there from Rochdale, a town in Greater Manchester, England. Nana has a crush on Mr. Wienburger, who lives across the street. It's a running joke that you never see his face! You only see his silhouette or the back of his head.
The "Sprogs" are baby-like creatures that make stinky green gas. The show never has a real alien invasion. But at the end of each episode, the Sprogs always seem to be heading towards Earth. Usually, the twins' alien theories turn out to be wrong.
The band Bis plays a song during the end credits, which is different from the opening theme.
Meet the Characters
Louie & Lucy
Louie and Lucy are the oldest kids in the Jenkins family. They are twins, probably around five or six years old. They love science fiction and fighting aliens! They often play games where they pretend to defend Earth from invaders. They believe their little brother is an evil Sprog alien trying to take over.
Lucy usually wears a yellow shirt with a sci-fi planet and a short pink skirt. Louie wears a blue shirt with a ringed planet and blue jeans. Both have brown, curly hair. Teresa Gallagher and Colleen Daley provide their voices.
Billy Bob
Billy Bob is the new baby brother of Louie and Lucy. He's a normal baby. But Louie and Lucy see him as a mind-controlling Sprog alien! The kids often call him "The Sprog" or "BB3B." Their mom usually calls him Billy Bob, but sometimes she uses "BB3B" too. Billy Bob is always in a striped green shirt and a nappy.
Jazz & Simon (Parents)
Jazz and Simon are Lucy, Louie, and Billy Bob's parents. They often look tired from chasing after the kids and keeping them out of trouble. Jazz seems to be a stay-at-home mom and is very creative. Simon is an architect, but his plans never seem to work out well. The kids think their parents are zombies controlled by Billy Bob because they move so slowly from being tired! Jazz wears a green long-sleeved turtle neck and a purple polka-dot skirt. Simon wears a striped red shirt with brown pants. Regina Reagan and Gary Martin voice them.
Nana
Nana is Simon's mom. She lives in a trailer in the front yard of the Jenkins' house. The show's theme song says she moved from Rochdale, England, to America. She loves driving her Mini on the left side of the road, just like in Britain. She's a big woman who really likes Mr. Wienburger. She's gone to great lengths to try and meet him! She also has western clothes and loves country music. Colleen Daley voices her.
Mr. Wienburger
Mr. Wienburger lives across the street from the Jenkins family. He's a mysterious man whose face you never see. He seems to have an important job because many people know him. He's afraid of Nana and often hides from her.
Chubba
Chubba is the teenage babysitter for the Jenkins kids. He's about 15 years old and calls almost everyone "Dude." He loves science fiction shows and movies, eating pizza, watching old B movies, listening to punk music, and hanging out with the kids. Chubba is very relaxed. He gets strange if he doesn't watch TV for too long! He gives the kids information even if he has no idea what he's talking about. His real name is George. Justin Fletcher voices him.
Music by Bis
The theme song for BB3B was performed by the Scottish rock band Bis. The band members, Steven Clark (Sci-fi Steven), John Clark (John Disco), and Amanda MacKinnon (Manda Rin), along with their made-up drummer, appear in almost every episode after the first one. They perform a song related to the episode's story, which is also played during the closing credits.
Bis showed up in many strange places to sing during the series. They sang on the roof of a toy store, in the back of a moving truck, on the roof of the Jenkins' home, and even underwater in a large tank at the local aquarium! However, Bis was never part of the show's storylines. They never talked to the characters, and the characters never seemed to see or hear them. Bis is also famous for writing and performing the ending theme song for The Powerpuff Girls.
