Backyard Soccer is a super fun association football (that's soccer!) video game. It's part of the popular Backyard Sports series. In Europe, it's known as Junior Sports Football, and in Australia, it's called Junior Sports Soccer.

The game was created by Humongous Entertainment. It was first released in 1998 for computers like Macintosh and Microsoft Windows. Later, in 2001, it came out for the PlayStation. You could even play it on iOS devices starting in 2008. The PlayStation version was one of the few Backyard Sports games released in Europe.

Playing the Game: Your Soccer Adventure

In Backyard Soccer, you get to pick your very own soccer team. Your main goal is to lead them to victory! You start in the "B" Division. Your team needs to play well to move up to the "A" Division. After that, you'll aim for the top "Premier Division."

Tournaments and Trophies

If your team does really well and is in the top four by the middle of the season, you'll get a special invitation. This invitation is for the "Off-The-Wall Indoor Invitational" tournament. It's a chance to show off your skills indoors!

Once you win the Premier Division, an even bigger challenge awaits. Your team will be invited to represent the United States in the "Astonishingly Shiny Cup of All Cups Tournament." This exciting tournament is a playful take on the real-world FIFA World Cup. No matter if you win or lose this big cup, your team will go back to the Premier Division. This gives you another shot at winning the Cup in the future!

Awesome Power-Ups

To help your team win, you can use cool power-ups during the game. These special abilities can give you an edge over your opponents. To use a power-up, you just click on the opponent's goal.

Types of Power-Ups

  • Cannon: This power-up lets your player launch a super fast and powerful shot. It's hard for the goalie to stop!
  • Underground: When you use this, the soccer ball goes underground. It then pops up in a totally random spot on the field. This can really surprise your opponents!
  • Bowling Ball: Imagine the soccer ball turning into a giant bowling ball! It rolls across the field, knocking over any opposing players in its path.
  • Tracer: With the Tracer, you get to control the ball's path using your mouse cursor. You simply click where you want the ball to go, and it follows your command.
