The Backyard Sports series, also known as Junior Sports, is a collection of exciting video games. You can play them on computers, game consoles, and even mobile phones. What makes these games special is that they feature kid versions of famous professional sports stars!

Imagine playing baseball with a young Albert Pujols or basketball with a young Kevin Garnett. The games also include original characters called "Backyard Kids." The series is officially licensed by major U.S. sports leagues. These include Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football League (NFL), the National Hockey League (NHL), and Major League Soccer (MLS).

What are Backyard Sports Games?

The Backyard Sports series includes many different sports games. You can play Backyard Baseball, Backyard Basketball, Backyard Football (which is American football), Backyard Soccer, Backyard Hockey (ice hockey), and Backyard Skateboarding.

Playing the Games

In these games, you get to create your own sports team. Your team will have a mix of "Backyard Kids" and those kid versions of pro players. You then guide your team through a "Backyard League" season. The goal is to win games and become the champions!

You can even create your own unique athletes to join your team. This feature first appeared in Backyard Football (1999).

Awesome Power-Ups

A really fun part of Backyard Sports games is using "Power-Ups." These special abilities give your players amazing temporary skills. For example:

  • Super Dunk: In basketball, this lets a player make an incredible dunk from almost anywhere on the court.
  • Leap Frog: In football, a player can jump right over the entire opposing team's defense.
  • Ice Cream Truck: This silly power-up causes the other team to get totally distracted for a short time.

Games in the Series

Over the years, many Backyard Sports games have been released. They cover different sports and are available on various gaming platforms. Here is a list of some of the games:
