Badwell Ash is a small village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. It is located in the Mid Suffolk area, not far from the towns of Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.

The name of the village, Badwell Ash, has an interesting history. Experts believe "Badwell" might come from an old word meaning "Bada's stream." The "Ash" part is thought to be linked to ash trees that grew in the area. In the past, around 1659, people tried to stop a serious illness from spreading in the village.

In 2011, about 770 people lived in Badwell Ash.

Life in Badwell Ash

Badwell Ash has several useful places for its residents. You can find a church, a local pub, a fish and chip shop, and a Post Office which also serves as a village shop. This shop sells many everyday items.

Getting around is easy too. There are bus services that connect the village to nearby towns. The main A14 road, which is a big highway, is also just a short drive away.

The village's primary school closed in December 2013. This decision was made by the Suffolk County Council.

In 2017, the church's clock and bells were fixed up. Now, the bells ring every hour, on the hour.

Village Events

In 2006, the people of Badwell Ash decided to create a Community Forum. This group helped organize a village fete, which is a type of festival or fair. It was the first fete the village had seen in many years!
