Balm bei Messen was a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the canton of Solothurn. On January 1, 2010, Balm bei Messen joined with two other towns, Brunnenthal and Oberramsern. They all became part of the larger town of Messen.

Balm bei Messen is a very old place. It was first written about in the year 1254. Back then, it was called de Balmo. Later, in 1275, people referred to it as in Balm.

Balm bei Messen covered an area of about 2.18 square kilometers (0.84 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 60%, was used for farming. About 32% of the area was covered by forests. The rest, about 7%, had buildings and roads.

Most of the built-up area was for houses and other buildings. Roads and paths made up a smaller part. The forests were mostly dense, with some smaller groups of trees or orchards. Farmers used their land for growing crops and for pastures where animals could graze.
