Balmoral is a small village located in the Southern Highlands area of New South Wales, Australia. It is the northernmost village within the Wingecarribee Shire.

Balmoral Village is mainly found on the eastern side of Wilson Drive. Its main street is called Railway Parade. Even though it's a small place, Balmoral has a well-kept Village Hall, which includes a fun play area for kids. There's also a tennis court for people to enjoy.

The village has its own NSW Rural Fire Service brigade. This group helps protect the community from fires. A local group called the Balmoral Village Association also works hard to organize events and raise money for the community.

History of Balmoral's Railway

Balmoral used to have a train station on the old Main Southern railway line. Over the years, it had different names like 'Big Hill Lower Siding' and 'Bargo' before becoming 'Balmoral' in 1888. On some old maps, it was even called Balmoral Private Village.

In 1919, a new train line opened, changing how trains traveled. However, the old Loop Line continued to be used until 1978. Today, this old line is no longer in use. The original Balmoral station building was moved next to an old school house built in 1893.

Getting Around Balmoral

On weekdays, a bus service connects Balmoral to other towns. This NSW TrainLink bus travels between Mittagong and Picton. It follows the route of the old Main South railway line.
