Bamyan Province (which is spelled Persian: بامیان in Dari) is a special part of Afghanistan. It's located right in the middle of the country. The main city, or capital city, is also called Bamyan. Most people living here are Hazaras. There are also smaller groups of Tajiks and Pashtuns. Bamyan is the biggest province in the Hazarajat area of Afghanistan.

The person in charge of a province is called a governor. A past governor of Bamyan Province was Habiba Sarabi. She was very important because she was the first, and so far, only female governor in all of Afghanistan's history.
