About Bedford High School
Bedford High School first opened its doors in 1954. Over the years, new parts were added in 1971 and 1994. The school is officially recognized by the Ohio Department of Education. This means it meets high standards for learning.
The school is built in a style called Norman Brick. It uses limestone and cost about $2.1 million to build. The school's main office building was added in 1961. Two more sections were built in 1971. These new parts are connected by glass walkways. Bearcat Stadium, where the football team plays, opened in 1994.
For many years, Bedford High School was next to St. Peter Chanel High School. Both schools won many sports championships. Because of their success, a part of Northfield Road was named the "Avenue of Champions." St. Peter Chanel High School was taken down in July 2020.
