Bella Ramsey (born 25 September 2003) is a talented English actor. They became well-known for playing the brave young noblewoman Lyanna Mormont in the fantasy TV series Game of Thrones (2016–2019). Later, they starred as Ellie in the popular drama series The Last of Us (2023–present). For this role, Ramsey earned nominations for major awards like a BAFTA Television Award and Primetime Emmy Awards.
Ramsey also played Mildred Hubble in the CBBC series The Worst Witch (2017–2020). They lent their voice to the main character in the Netflix animated series Hilda (2018–2023). In 2022, Ramsey starred in the historical comedy film Catherine Called Birdy, receiving a nomination for Best Young Performer. Their work in the BBC drama Time (2023) also earned them a Royal Television Society Award.

Bella Ramsey was born in Nottingham, England, on September 25, 2003. They started school in Leicestershire. At age 12, they switched to an online school called King's InterHigh. This change helped Ramsey manage their schoolwork and acting career at the same time.
As a child, Ramsey loved art, music, writing, and football. They also performed in local theater groups, like Stagecoach Theatre Arts. When they were 10, Ramsey joined the Television Workshop in Nottingham. This workshop helped them prepare for auditions, including the one for Game of Thrones. Ramsey says the workshop taught them to truly "be and become" their characters, not just pretend.

Breakthrough Role in Game of Thrones
From 2016 to 2019, Ramsey played Lyanna Mormont in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones. This was Ramsey's first big role. Fans and critics quickly noticed their strong performance as a no-nonsense leader. The show's creators were so impressed that they expanded Lyanna's role beyond what was originally planned. The Hollywood Reporter even called Ramsey "season 6's breakout star."
Starring in The Worst Witch and Hilda
Ramsey then starred as Mildred Hubble in the CBBC fantasy drama The Worst Witch (2017–2019). For this role, they won the Young Performer award at the 2019 British Academy Children's Awards.
They also voiced the main character in the Netflix animated series Hilda (2018–2023). Ramsey even sang their debut song, "The Life of Hilda," for the series. They continued as Hilda in the movie special, Hilda and the Mountain King, which came out in 2021.
Diverse Roles in Film and TV
In 2020, Ramsey appeared in His Dark Materials as Angelica. They also played Elsbeth in the drama film Resistance (2020). This film told the important story of how Marcel Marceau helped Jewish children during World War II.
