The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards are a big event that celebrates the best TV shows and actors from June 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023. These awards are chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The main awards show was shown on Fox on January 15, 2024. Other awards, called the Creative Arts Emmys, happened on January 6 and 7. The whole event was moved from September 2023 because of strikes by writers and actors. The list of shows and people nominated for awards was announced on July 12, 2023.
Emmy Nominees
The nominees for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on July 12, 2023. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown and Frank Scherma from the Television Academy shared the news online.
The TV show Succession received the most nominations, with 27 in total! This included 14 acting nominations, which tied its own record from the year before. Succession also made history by having three actors nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The Last of Us, a show based on a video game, was the first live-action video game adaptation to be nominated in the main Emmy categories.
Some individual achievements were also special:
- Paris Barclay became the first Black director nominated in comedy, drama, and limited series categories for his work on Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
- Jenna Ortega became the second-youngest person ever nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
- Pedro Pascal received three nominations, making him the most nominated Latino actor in one year.
- Keivonn Montreal Woodard became the youngest male actor and the second deaf actor to be nominated.
HBO and Max led all TV networks with 127 nominations. They were also the first network since 1992 to have four shows nominated for Best Drama Series. New streaming services like Amazon Freevee and Tubi also got their first Emmy nominations this year for Jury Duty and The Nevers.
