Jason Sudeikis (born September 18, 1975) is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He is famous for his funny roles in movies and TV shows.
Jason started his career doing improv comedy in the 1990s. He later became a writer and cast member on the popular TV show Saturday Night Live. He was on the show for nine seasons.
More recently, he became very well-known for creating and starring in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso. This show is about a kind American football coach who moves to England. For his work on Ted Lasso, Jason won several big awards, including Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
He has also been in many movies like Horrible Bosses, We're the Millers, and Booksmart. He has also lent his voice to animated films such as The Angry Birds Movie.

Early Life and Education
Jason Sudeikis was born on September 18, 1975, in Fairfax, Virginia. His mother, Kathryn, was a travel agent, and his father, Daniel, worked in business. Jason has two younger sisters, Kristin and Lindsay. His family has roots from Ireland, Lithuania, and Germany.
His uncle is the actor George Wendt, who was famous for playing Norm Peterson on the TV show Cheers. Jason's great-grandfather, Tom Howard, was a photographer.
When Jason was young, his family moved to Overland Park, Kansas. He considers this his hometown. He went to Shawnee Mission West High School. After high school, he attended Fort Scott Community College on a basketball scholarship. However, he decided to leave college before finishing his studies.
Jason was born with a condition called anosmia. This means he cannot smell anything.
Career Journey
Starting in Comedy
In the 1990s, Jason Sudeikis began his career in improv comedy. This is a type of comedy where actors make up scenes on the spot. He performed at places like ComedySportz in Kansas City, Missouri.
He then moved to Chicago, Illinois, a famous city for comedy. There, he studied at well-known theaters like the Annoyance Theatre and IO Theater. He even helped start a comedy group called J.T.S. Brown. Jason also performed with a group called Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Later, he joined The Second City Touring Company. This is a famous comedy group that travels and performs. In the early 2000s, he helped open The Second City Las Vegas.
Saturday Night Live Years
In 2003, Jason Sudeikis was hired as a writer for the TV show Saturday Night Live (SNL). His uncle, George Wendt, had recommended him for the job. SNL is a live comedy show known for its funny sketches.
In May 2005, Jason became a featured performer on SNL. By September 2006, he became a main cast member. He stayed on the show for many years, playing various funny characters. He often played famous people and unique characters.

Early Film and TV Roles
Jason Sudeikis had a recurring role on the TV series 30 Rock from 2007 to 2010. He played Floyd DeBarber, a character who was a love interest for Tina Fey's character, Liz Lemon.
He started his movie career with smaller roles in films like Watching the Detectives (2007) and What Happens in Vegas (2008). He also did voice work for the video game Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008.
Jason was also a voice actor on the animated comedy series The Cleveland Show from 2009 to 2013. He voiced two main characters: Holt Richter and Terry Kimple.
Becoming a Lead Actor

From 2020 to 2023, Jason Sudeikis gained huge popularity for Ted Lasso. He co-created the show and played the main character, Ted Lasso. The show is about an American football coach who is hired to manage an English soccer team. The series was a big success and earned him many awards for his acting and writing.
Charity Work
Jason Sudeikis is also known for his charity work. He has played in celebrity basketball games for the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
He is one of the hosts of an event called "Big Slick" in Kansas City. This event raises money for the Cancer Center at Children's Mercy Hospital. As of 2023, Big Slick has raised over $21 million to help children.
In 2018, he hosted a concert called Thundergong! in Kansas City. This event raised money for the Steps of Faith charity, which helps people get prosthetic legs and arms.
Personal Life
Jason Sudeikis was married to screenwriter Kay Cannon from 2004 to 2010. They had met while performing at The Second City Las Vegas.
He was in a relationship with actress and filmmaker Olivia Wilde from 2011 to 2020. They have two children together: a son born in 2014 and a daughter born in 2016.
Jason is a big fan of basketball, especially the WNBA team New York Liberty and the Brooklyn Nets. He also supports Indiana Fever player Caitlin Clark and has attended many of her games.
