Taron Egerton (born 10 November 1989) is a talented Welsh actor. He became famous for playing a spy in the action-comedy movies Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017).
Taron has also starred in movies based on real people's lives. He played the ski-jumper Eddie the Eagle in the movie Eddie the Eagle (2016). He also played the famous singer Elton John in the musical film Rocketman (2019). For his role as Elton John, he won a Golden Globe Award. He has also appeared in the TV series Black Bird (2022) and the movie Tetris (2023).

Early Life and Growing Up
Taron Egerton was born on November 10, 1989, in Birkenhead, England. His mother worked in social services, and his father ran a bed-and-breakfast. Even though he was born in England, Taron feels very Welsh. He can speak both Welsh and English fluently. His first name, Taron, means "thunder" in Welsh. He has two younger half-sisters.
When Taron was two, his parents divorced. He moved with his mother to the Welsh island of Anglesey. He went to primary school there. Later, when he was 12, his family moved to Aberystwyth. This move made him feel a bit lonely because he missed his old friends. He started acting when he was 15. He said it was a way to meet people and make friends, as well as an interest in acting. He later studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and finished in 2012.

Early Roles and Kingsman Movies (2012–2018)
Taron Egerton began his acting career on stage. In 2012, he performed in a play called The Last of the Haussmans in London. After appearing in a TV show called Lewis, he got a big role. He was chosen to play the main character in Kingsman: The Secret Service in 2013. This movie was an action-comedy about a secret spy organization.
In 2014, he also played a military officer in the film Testament of Youth. Kingsman: The Secret Service came out in 2015 and was a huge success. People loved it, and it made over $400 million worldwide. Taron became very well-known for his role as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, a new spy recruit. In the same year, he also appeared in the crime film Legend.
In 2016, Taron was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award. That year, he played the real-life ski-jumper Eddie the Eagle in a movie about his life. He also voiced Johnny, a singing gorilla, in the animated movie Sing. Taron returned as Eggsy in the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which was released in 2017. In 2018, he starred in Robin Hood. He later said that Robin Hood was not the movie he had expected it to be.
Career Growth (2019–Present)
In 2019, Taron Egerton played the famous singer Elton John in the musical film Rocketman. For this role, he learned to play the piano. He also sang all of Elton John's songs live during filming. The movie received great reviews, and Taron's performance was highly praised. He won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his amazing work. He was also nominated for a British Academy Film Award and a Grammy Award for the movie's soundtrack. That same year, Taron narrated the audiobook of Elton John's autobiography, Me. They even performed together on stage a few times.
Also in 2019, Taron lent his voice to characters in animated shows. He was Moomintroll in Moominvalley and Rian in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. He voiced Johnny the gorilla again in Sing 2, which came out in 2021. In 2022, Taron starred in a play called Cock in London's West End. He had to leave the show early due to fainting on stage and later getting sick, but his acting in the play was still praised.
Taron also starred in the miniseries Black Bird, which premiered on Apple TV+ in 2022. He played Jimmy Keene and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his performance. The next year, he played entrepreneur Henk Rogers in the movie Tetris, also on Apple TV+. This film was about the famous video game.
In 2024, Taron starred in the Netflix thriller film Carry-On. He played a TSA agent who is blackmailed. This movie became one of the most-watched English-language films on Netflix. Taron will next appear in the Apple TV+ miniseries Firebug and the crime thriller film She Rides Shotgun.
