Bellara is a lovely town located on Bribie Island in Queensland, Australia. It is part of the City of Moreton Bay area. In 2021, about 3,278 people called Bellara home.

Exploring Bellara's Location
Bellara is on the western side of Bribie Island. It sits right next to the Pumicestone Channel. This channel is a waterway that separates Bribie Island from the mainland of Queensland.
The Bribie Island Bridge is very important here. It connects Bellara and Bongaree on the island. The bridge then crosses over to Sandstone Point on the mainland.
You can find a long sandy beach called Sylvan Beach here. It stretches along the coast of Bellara. The beach goes north towards Banksia Beach. It also extends south to Bongaree.
The Story Behind Bellara's Name
The name Bellara was officially chosen on July 1, 1961. The Queensland Place Names Board approved it. It is an Aboriginal word that means good.
