Sandstone Point is a lovely coastal town in Queensland, Australia. It's part of the City of Moreton Bay. In 2021, about 4,094 people lived here. This area is known for its beautiful views and fast growth.

Exploring Sandstone Point's Location

Sandstone Point is about 52 kilometers (32 miles) north of Brisbane. It sits on the Caboolture–Bribie Island Road. You can reach it by crossing the Bribie Island Bridge from Bribie Island. The town offers amazing views of Moreton Bay and its surroundings. It's one of the fastest-growing places in the Moreton Bay area.

Coastal Features and Waterways

Sandstone Point has some interesting coastal spots. These include Turners Camp Island, which is now connected to the mainland. You'll also find Toorbul Point and Sandstone Point itself. Godwin Beach stretches from the nearby area of Godwin Beach.

Sandstone Point's Past

This area is the traditional home of the Ningy Ningy people. They are the original custodians of this land. In the past, up to 2,000 Aboriginal people would gather here for special ceremonies. They used a place called a bora ring, which was south of Bestman Road.

During World War II, Sandstone Point was known as Toorbul Point. It was used as a training base for soldiers. They practiced landing on beaches there.

In 2011, Sandstone Point had 3,895 residents. Most people (76.8%) were born in Australia. Other common birthplaces included England (7.6%) and New Zealand (4.2%). Most people (94.2%) spoke only English at home. The average age of people living here was 51 years old.

By 2016, the population grew slightly to 3,959 people. In 2021, it reached 4,094 people. This shows the town is continuing to grow!

Sandstone Point does not have its own schools. Students usually go to schools on Bribie Island. The closest government schools are Bribie Island State School (primary) and Bribie Island State High School (secondary). Both are in Bongaree, just across the bridge.

Boating and Water Access

Spinnaker Sound Marina is a large marina for boats. It covers about 3.1 hectares (7.7 acres). There's a boat ramp here, making it easy to launch your boat.

Another boat ramp is at Kal Ma Kuta Drive. This ramp gives you access to the Pumicestone Passage. The Moreton Bay Regional Council manages this ramp.
