History of Bethany

Bethany became an official town in 1955. It was named after Bethany Park. This park was started in 1884 by a religious group called the Disciples of Christ. They used the park for "camp meetings," which were large gatherings for religious learning and community activities.

Geography of Bethany

Bethany is in the northeastern part of Morgan County. It is next to the town of Brooklyn on its northeast side. A main road, Indiana State Road 67, passes close by. This road can take you north to Mooresville or south to Martinsville. Martinsville is the main city of Morgan County. The big city of Indianapolis is about 22 miles northeast.

The town of Bethany covers a small area of land, about 0.10 square miles. It is located just northwest of the White River.
