The Story of Bevier
Bevier was started in 1858. It was planned out next to a new railroad track. The town was named after Robert Bevier. He was from Kentucky and later became a colonel. A post office opened in Bevier the same year.
In 1860, people found coal in Bevier. Coal mining became very important for the town's economy. It stayed important for many years. Bevier officially became a village in 1881. It then became a city in 1889.

Bevier is in the southern part of Macon County. You can find it at these coordinates: 39°44′57″N 92°33′50″W / 39.74917°N 92.56389°W. U.S. Route 36 goes through the northern edge of the city. You can get to it from Highways C and O.
If you go east on US 36 for about 5 miles (8 km), you will reach Macon. Macon is the main city of the county. If you go west for about 28 miles (45 km), you will get to Brookfield.
The U.S. Census Bureau says Bevier covers about 1.04 square miles (2.69 square kilometers). All of this area is land. A small creek flows through the middle of town. It flows west towards the Middle Fork of the Little Chariton River. This river then flows into the Missouri River.
