After joining T.I.'s Grand Hustle music company, Big Kuntry King signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. His first album, My Turn to Eat, came out on September 30, 2008.

Big Kuntry King also started his own music company called Bread Box Muzic.

Life and Music Career

Early Life and Beginnings (1978–2007)

Sean Merrett was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He grew up in a busy home with his mother, sister, and many other family members. When he was in fifth grade, Kuntry moved to Atlanta with his mother. She wanted to find a better life for her children.

Kuntry started rapping to earn some extra money. In 1996, he became friends with T.I., another rising rapper in Atlanta. T.I. was already known for his rapping skills. Together, they sold their own music, called mixtapes, from the back of their car. They rapped because they knew it could help them succeed and become well-known in their neighborhood.

Big Kuntry King first appeared on a major album on T.I.'s debut, I'm Serious (2001). He was featured on the song "Heavy Chevys." He also appeared on later T.I. albums like Trap Muzik (2003) and Urban Legend (2004). During this time, Big Kuntry also released his own songs, such as "Still Country" and "Throwback."

As a member of P$C, a five-person group signed to Grand Hustle, he gained more attention. The group released their first album, 25 to Life, in 2005. This album included the popular song "I'm a King" featuring Lil' Scrappy. Through P$C, Big Kuntry King became known to people across the country. He realized he wanted to focus more on his own music.

In 2006, he was part of the remix of T.I.'s song "Top Back." This remix also featured Young Jeezy, Young Dro, and B.G.. It was included on the Grand Hustle music collection Grand Hustle Presents: In da Streetz Volume 4 (2006).

My Turn to Eat and Beyond (2008–Present)

While T.I. and his group were performing in Japan, Big Kuntry King was busy in the studio. He was recording his own solo songs. He quickly created catchy tracks like "Yeah I'm On It" and "That's Right." Both songs featured his unique saying, You know who this is man, Big Kuntry King!. He used his own money to release "Yeah I'm On It." By the time his friends returned from Japan, his songs were playing on the radio and in clubs.

Because of his hard work, Kuntry signed as a solo artist with Atlantic Records. He then released his first solo album, My Turn to Eat. He chose this title because he felt it was his moment to shine and achieve success.

He spent almost a year recording the album. It featured many popular producers from Atlanta, like Shawty Redd and Marvelous J. On the song "Pots and Pans," Kuntry explains the differences between Southern music and music from other regions. In "Soul of a Man," he talks about the challenges people face and trying to do what's right. His song "Posse" is about being proud of where he comes from and the friends he keeps. He carefully chose all the beats for his album, saying he has a good "ear" for music. The album was released on September 30, 2008, and reached #98 on the Billboard 200 music chart.
