William David Lowery (born May 2, 1947) is an American politician. He also worked as a lobbyist. Mr. Lowery is from California. He is a member of the Republican Party. He served six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. This means he was a representative for 12 years, from 1981 to 1993.

Early Life and Political Start

Bill Lowery was born on May 2, 1947, in San Diego, California. He went to San Diego State University. His father owned a hardware store. When Bill was nine, his father passed away. His mother worked hard to care for their family.

Bill became active in politics during college. He was involved in student politics. He supported conservative ideas. For example, he helped arrange peaceful events. These events supported free speech for businesses. They also supported the right for ROTC to recruit on campus. Later, he worked for President Ford's campaign. He was also involved with the California Republican Party.

Serving San Diego on the City Council

In 1977, Bill Lowery was elected to the San Diego City Council. He was 30 years old at the time. He worked closely with the mayor, Pete Wilson. Lowery helped support many important projects.
