Marcus Vance Gloster (born April 29, 1986) is an American rapper known as Black Cobain. He became well-known for his music and performances. He even worked with famous rapper Wale on the song "4 AM." Black Cobain also opened for Wale's big "Ambition" tour, which visited many cities.

Getting Started: Black Cobain's Journey
Black Cobain grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. He loved hip hop music from a young age. His stage name, "Black Cobain," comes from two parts. "Black" was his childhood nickname. "Cobain" is a tribute to his uncle, who introduced him to rock and roll and the band Nirvana. The lead singer of Nirvana was Kurt Cobain.
Black Cobain went to Virginia State University. He graduated with high honors. After college, he worked at the Boys & Girls Club. He wasn't sure if he could make a living from music. During this time, he connected with his friend and mentor, Le'Greg O. Harrison. With Harrison's help, Black Cobain started to improve his music. He began performing locally and collaborating with other artists.

Early Years: Building His Sound (2008–2010)
In his early career, Black Cobain performed a lot. He played at open mic nights in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas. He wanted to get noticed and build his own fan base. After many performances and freestyles, Black Cobain released his first mixtape. It was called Now or Never in 2009. This mixtape talked about growing up and life in the city. A year later, he released his second mixtape, Now. This showed how much he had grown as a rapper. Now featured songs with artists like Wale, Raheem Devaughn, J. Holiday, and Wiz Khalifa. Later that year, he was also featured in a fashion campaign.
Touring and New Music (2011–Present)
In 2011, Black Cobain released another mixtape, Young, Gifted & Black. This mixtape included music from Wale and Stalley.
Black Cobain became very active by touring a lot. He traveled to over 53 cities around the world. He was the official opening act for Wale's "Ambition" Tour from 2011 to 2012.
