Bloomfield is a small village located in Ontario County, New York, United States. In 2010, about 1,361 people lived there.

The Village of Bloomfield is part of the Town of East Bloomfield. It is located west of a larger city called Canandaigua.

History of Bloomfield

Bloomfield was once part of a large land deal called the Phelps and Gorham Purchase in 1788. The village was officially formed in 1990. This happened when two nearby communities, Holcomb and East Bloomfield, decided to join together.

Two important historical buildings in Bloomfield are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church Complex and St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Geography of Bloomfield

Bloomfield is located at coordinates 42°53′57″N 77°25′47″W / 42.89917°N 77.42972°W / 42.89917; -77.42972. This helps pinpoint its exact spot on a map.

The United States Census Bureau states that the village covers an area of about 1.4 square miles (3.6 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

The village is mostly found between New York State Route 444 and two roads that run together: US 20 and New York State Route 5. Another road, New York State Route 64, also meets US-20 just west of the village.

A stream called Fish Creek flows along the north side of Bloomfield. This creek is a branch of Ganargua Creek. It eventually connects to the famous Erie Canal to the north.
