Bogan Shire is a local government area in the Orana region of New South Wales, Australia. This area is next to the Mitchell and Barrier highways. Its only main town is Nyngan.
The town of Nyngan became a "Municipality" on 17 February 1891. At that time, Nyngan had 1,355 people living there. Bogan Shire was officially created on 7 May 1906. Later, on 1 January 1972, Bogan Shire took over the Municipality of Nyngan.
The current mayor of Bogan Shire Council is Cr. Glen Neill. He is not part of any major political party.
