Important roads like the Mitchell and Oxley Highways also pass through it. Most of the land in Warren Shire is used for growing wool and cotton.
This Shire was created on January 1, 1957. It was formed by joining two smaller areas: Marthaguy Shire and the Municipality of Warren. The main towns in the Shire are Warren and Nevertire.
