Where is Bollon Located?
Bollon is in South West Queensland. It is about 634 kilometers (394 miles) west of Brisbane, the capital city. The town sits along the Balonne Highway. It is found between the towns of St George and Cunnamulla. Bollon is also right next to Wallam Creek.
What is the Climate Like?
Bollon has a warm climate. Summers are very hot, with temperatures often reaching over 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Winters are milder, but nights can be cool. The area gets some rain, but it can be quite dry at times.

History of Bollon
The name Bollon might come from an Aboriginal word. It is thought to be from the Mandandanji language word balun or balonn. This word means water or a running stream.
Early Days
The town of Bollon officially started on June 26, 1879. The Queensland Government sold land lots for people to build on. By June 1880, Bollon had a hotel, a store, and a post office.
Schools and Churches
Bollon Provisional School opened on July 27, 1885. It later became Bollon State School on January 1, 1902. A church called St Mary's Anglican Church opened on February 16, 1936.
Protecting Nature
In 2010, Narkoola National Park was created near Bollon. This park helps protect special plants and animals that live in the Mulga Lands area.
Education in Bollon
Bollon State School is the local primary school. It teaches students from Prep (kindergarten) to Year 6. The school is located on Main Street. In 2017, there were 23 students attending the school.

Bollon has a few places for the community.
