The Borden River is a cool river located in the Sudbury District in northeastern Ontario, Canada. It's part of a huge area where water flows towards James Bay. Think of it like a giant funnel! The Borden River is also a smaller river that flows into the Nemegosenda River.
Where Does the Borden River Flow?
The Borden River starts its journey at the northwest part of Borden Lake. This lake is in an area called Cochrane Township. From there, the river flows north. It even goes under Ontario Highway 101!
After that, the river turns northeast, then east. It enters Borden Township and gets bigger when Briggs Creek joins it from the left side. The river then heads southeast. Another stream, Westover Creek, adds its water from the right.
The Borden River continues its path northeast through the Mate Lakes. Here, it enters McGee Township for a short bit. Then, it keeps flowing northeast into Chewett Township. Finally, it turns northwest and reaches its end at the southern tip of Nemegosenda Lake.
The River's Journey to James Bay
The water from Nemegosenda Lake doesn't stop there! It flows into the Nemegosenda River. This river then joins the Kapuskasing River, which flows into the Mattagami River. Finally, the Mattagami River flows into the Moose River, which empties into James Bay. So, the Borden River's water travels a long way to reach the bay!
What Rivers Join the Borden River?
The Borden River has a few smaller streams that flow into it, making it larger. These are called tributaries.
- Westover Creek (joins from the right side)
- Briggs Creek (joins from the left side)
