Boris and Natasha: The Movie is a fun made-for-television comedy film from 1992. It's based on the classic cartoon show, The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. The movie follows the hilarious spy duo, Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale, on their own big adventure. They are spies from the tiny country of Pottsylvania, always trying to cause trouble for America!
The film was shot in Los Angeles. The main actors, Dave Thomas and Sally Kellerman, played the characters in their own way, not trying to copy the cartoon voices. Even though the famous cartoon characters Rocky and Bullwinkle don't appear, two minor characters are called "Agents Moose and Squirrel" in a big scene. This was because the filmmakers couldn't get permission to use the cartoon characters' exact looks for the movie. The film first aired on Showtime on April 17, 1992.

What is the movie about?
The movie starts in the tiny country of Pottsylvania. Their leader, Fearless Leader, wants to get a special time-reversal microchip. This amazing chip was invented by Professor Anton Paulovitch. Fearless Leader decides to send his two most famous (and often clumsy) agents, Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale, to find the Professor.
Boris and Natasha's American adventure
Boris and Natasha are told to pretend to leave Pottsylvania and go to America. After many funny attempts to get there, they finally make it! They are sent to the CIA, America's spy agency. The head of the CIA, Sheldon Kaufman, tests them to see if they are really changing sides. It's clear they are not very good at pretending, but a CIA worker named Willie thinks they should play along. He suggests they watch Boris and Natasha to see what they are really after.
Boris and Natasha are given an apartment and some money. They are secretly watched by Agent X, who is also being followed by a mysterious person. The spy duo needs to meet a secret contact named Kalishak. He supposedly knows who they should look for. But first, they have to deal with their nosy next-door neighbors, Toots and Harve, who are very curious about them. Natasha starts to find America interesting and learns about how American couples help each other, which is new to her.
Searching for clues and new friends
They find Kalishak, who at first says he knows nothing about the professor. After getting a bribe, Kalishak gives Boris a strange clue: "Search your sole." Boris doesn't understand. Later, Kalishak is removed from the story in a surprising way. Natasha then finds information written on the sole of Boris's shoe, telling them to find "Minelli."
Disguised as rug cleaners, they go to the address on the shoe. They learn that "Minelli" is Sal Minelli, a photographer. Natasha gets an offer for a photo shoot and a party. Boris thinks this is a good chance to meet Sal Minelli. While waiting for the party, Natasha goes shopping with Toots, her neighbor. She learns that Toots doesn't need her husband's permission to do things, which makes Natasha think about her own life.
Becoming famous and facing challenges
Boris tries to find Sal Minelli at the party, but Natasha becomes a celebrity! Boris gets annoyed because Fearless Leader told them to stay hidden. But Natasha remembers what Toots told her about helping each other. She points out that she's been helping Boris succeed. They have a small argument, but later, Boris feels bad. Natasha finds him sleeping outside, and they make up.
Sal Minelli calls them and sets up a photo session with Natasha. It turns out Minelli is also a spy! He tells Natasha that Fearless Leader sent them as decoys and that they might be in danger. Just as he's about to reveal who Agent X is, Minelli is removed from the story. Boris, disguised as a police officer, finds out that Agent X is actually Willie, the CIA worker.
Back at their apartment, Boris realizes they can only trust each other. They decide to leave just as someone tries to stop them. Disguised as big Irishmen, they stay at a hotel. There, they find Willie, who is no longer with them, and a train schedule. They try to hide Willie, but they run into Harve and Toots, who are also at the hotel for a party. Boris and Natasha manage to get rid of Willie's body down a laundry chute. But then they remember they left the train schedule in the hotel room!
The time-reversing chip and a big secret
When they go back, they find Professor Paulovitch, who was the mysterious person following Agent X. He wants to talk about the chip, which Boris and Natasha still know nothing about. Suddenly, Toots and Harve knock on the door! They found Willie's body and brought him back. Boris and Natasha quickly pretend they are at the hotel for relationship counseling. Once the neighbors are gone, Paulovitch is missing, along with the train schedule.
Boris and Natasha chase after Paulovitch. They catch a taxi and question him, but he pretends not to know anything. Boris then finds lit dynamite in the taxi! The driver is a dummy. The car explodes, but then the explosion reverses! After a few explosions and reverses, they jump out of the taxi. Paulovitch explains that the time-reversing chip caused this. He tells them his evil twin brother, Kreeger, is also after the chip. Boris and Natasha agree to help make sure the chip doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
The secret lab and a surprising ending
Paulovitch talks for so long that Boris and Natasha fall asleep. When they wake up, Paulovitch has been taken! But they find a penny, which they realize is a clue. They go to Mount Rushmore and find a secret ladder going into Lincoln's nose.
Inside, they find Paulovitch's secret laboratory. They discover millions of time-reverse microchips! They also find Anton tied up. He says Kreeger kidnapped him, but then they learn that the person tied up is actually Kreeger, and Anton is free! Anton explains that he made many chips to send to every country, hoping to end wars.
Then, Kaufman, the CIA head, arrives. But he reveals he's not working for the government! He works for car and insurance companies and knows the chip could ruin his business. Harve and Toots also show up with guns! It's revealed they are secretly Agents Moose and Squirrel!
Finally, Fearless Leader arrives and takes all the microchips. After Natasha causes a temporary power outage, a big fight starts. Many people point guns at each other. Boris takes out a stick of dynamite he was "saving for a rainy day." He throws it at the pile of microchips, which sends everyone back to the very beginning of the movie!
They are surprised to see Paulovitch with them, as he wasn't there before. Paulovitch thinks there was too much power. Knowing what will happen, Boris realizes Fearless Leader will also know. So, Boris decides they will go to Tahiti instead, a place Natasha wanted to visit. When Paulovitch realizes he hasn't been introduced, Boris introduces Natasha as his girlfriend. The narrator wonders if they are truly safe, but Boris tells him to be quiet.
