Armenia's Water Riches
Armenia has lots of natural mineral water, especially in areas like Ararat Province, Jermuk, Bjni, and Dilijan. These places are famous for their special water.
Since 2004, the amount of bottled mineral water made in Armenia has grown a lot. In 2013, a record 43.2 million liters were produced. About a quarter of this water was sent to other countries. This shows that Armenia's water bottling industry is doing very well.
Today, about 25-30% of Armenia's mineral water is exported. The biggest buyer is Russia, followed by the United States. Other countries that import Armenian water include Georgia, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates.
Water Exports in Numbers
In 2013, about 10.5 million liters of mineral water went to Russia. The United States imported around 300,000 liters, making it the second-largest importer. Ukraine was third with 250,000 liters.
Armenia also started sending mineral water to the United Arab Emirates in 2013, with about 105,000 liters exported that year. Other countries like Poland and France also imported Armenian water.
By 2014, water production grew even more, reaching 58.6 million liters. About 14.7 million liters were exported. Russia continued to be the main destination, receiving about 13 million liters.
Since 2016, some Armenian water companies have started selling their products in big stores in the American market. They are now competing with famous water brands from Europe!
