Branch MRT Line facts for kids
The Branch MRT Line was a special train line in Singapore. It was the third line to join the MRT network. Think of it like a short branch off a bigger tree!
It was 6.5 kilometers long. That's about 4 miles! It had three stations, plus one main station it connected to. The line opened in March 1990. Trains on this line ran as a branch line of the East West Line. A trip from one end to the other took about ten minutes. The trains used were called Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151 and Siemens C651 models. They had six cars each.
In February 1996, the North South Line was made longer. It reached a new station called Woodlands. Because of this, the Branch MRT Line became part of the North South MRT Line.
