Woodlands MRT station (NS9/TE2) is a busy train station in Woodlands, Singapore. It is part of Singapore's MRT system. This station is special because it serves two different train lines: the North South Line and the Thomson–East Coast Line. You can find it right next to the Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange and a big shopping mall called Causeway Point.

Station History

How Woodlands Station Started

In 1990, the government of Singapore announced plans to make the North South Line longer. This extension would connect the existing Choa Chu Kang and Yishun stations. Woodlands station was an important part of this new plan.

Opening Dates

The North South Line part of Woodlands station officially opened on 10 February 1996. This made it easier for people in Woodlands to travel around Singapore. Later, on 31 January 2020, the Thomson–East Coast Line section of the station also opened. This added even more travel options for commuters.
