The Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) is a brand new train line being built in Singapore. It will be the sixth Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line in the country. This line will be special because it is fully automated, meaning it runs without a driver!
The TEL will be about 43 kilometers (27 miles) long. It will have 31 stations when it is fully ready. The idea for the Thomson Line part was first shared in 2012. The Eastern Region Line part was announced in 2014. Later, these two plans were combined to form the Thomson-East Coast Line.
This new line will open in five different parts, starting from 2019. It will connect with all the other existing train lines in Singapore. Once the first three parts are open, it is expected to serve around 500,000 people every day. This will make it much easier for many people to travel around Singapore.
Stations Along the Line
The Thomson-East Coast Line will have many stations. These stations are being built in different stages. Some stages are already under construction, while others are still being planned. This table shows all the stations and which stage they belong to. It also shows if a station connects to other train lines.
