Breckin Meyer (born May 7, 1974) is an American actor, writer, and producer. He is well-known for his funny roles in movies and TV shows. You might know his voice from the animated show Robot Chicken, where he has won two Annie Awards and been nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards.

Breckin became famous for his roles in popular films like Clueless (1995), Road Trip (2000), and Rat Race (2001). He also played Jon Arbuckle, the owner of the famous cat, in the Garfield: The Movie (2004) and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006) movies. On TV, he starred in shows like The Home Court, Married to the Kellys, and Franklin & Bash. He also created the TV show Men at Work.

Early Life and First Steps in Acting

Breckin Meyer was born on May 7, 1974, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His mom, Dorothy Ann, was a travel agent, and his dad, Christopher William Meyer, was a management consultant. Breckin lived in many different states, including California, Texas, and New Jersey. He has two brothers, Frank and Adam.

When he was a young boy, Breckin went to elementary school with actress Drew Barrymore. Through her, he met an agent who signed him up for acting jobs. He started by appearing in many TV commercials. He also appeared as a child contestant on a game show called Child's Play. Later, he attended Beverly Hills High School.

Breckin Meyer's acting career began with small parts. One of his early movie roles was in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991). His big break came in the popular teen movie Clueless (1995), where he played Travis Birkenstock. He then appeared in other films like The Craft and Escape from L.A. (both 1996).

In the late 1990s, Breckin continued to take on interesting roles. He played a high school student who wanted to leave his small town in Dancer, Texas Pop. 81 (1998). He also starred in 54 (1998), a movie about the famous 1970s nightclub Studio 54. Breckin is good friends with actor Ryan Phillippe, and they even share a production company with Seth Green.

Breckin got his first main role in the comedy film Road Trip (2000). In this movie, he played a college student traveling across the country. He teamed up again with actress Amy Smart in another cross-country adventure film, Rat Race (2001). This movie was a funny tribute to old chase films from the 1960s. He also had a supporting role in the fantasy-comedy Kate & Leopold (2001).

One of his most recognizable roles was playing Jon Arbuckle, the owner of the lazy cat Garfield, in the live-action movie Garfield (2004) and its sequel Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006). He also appeared in Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005) and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009). More recently, he starred in Changeland (2019) and Unpregnant (2020).

On television, Breckin had main roles in sitcoms like Married to the Kellys (2003–2004) and the legal comedy-drama Franklin & Bash (2011–2014). He also created and produced the TBS sitcom Men at Work (2012–2014).

Breckin Meyer married screenwriter and film director Deborah Kaplan on October 14, 2001. They had two daughters together before divorcing in 2014. As of 2024, he is dating Kelly Rizzo. His brother, Frank Meyer, also works in television as a producer.
