Brian Ebenezer Adjei Brobbey, born on February 1, 2002, is a talented Dutch professional footballer. He plays as a striker, which means he's a forward player whose main job is to score goals. Currently, he plays for the Sunderland club in England and also represents his home country, the Netherlands, on the national team.

Starting Out: Youth Football

Brian started playing football at a young age. He began his youth career with a club called AFC. In 2010, when he was just eight years old, he joined the famous Ajax academy. This is a special school for young football players in the Netherlands.

Playing for Ajax: First Steps

Brian made his first big appearance for Ajax in the top Dutch league, the Eredivisie, on October 31, 2020. He came into the game as a substitute and scored a goal, helping his team win 5–2 against Fortuna Sittard. Soon after, on December 9, 2020, he played his first game in a major European competition, the UEFA Champions League. His coach, Erik ten Hag, was very impressed with how he played. Brian also scored his first goal in a European competition on February 18, 2021. This was during a Europa League match against Lille, where he helped Ajax win.

Moving to Germany: RB Leipzig

On March 12, 2021, Brian decided to move to a German club called RB Leipzig. He officially joined them on July 1, 2021, to start a new chapter in his career.

Back to Ajax: A Loan Spell

On December 27, 2021, Brian returned to Ajax for a short time. He joined them on a six-month loan, which means he played for Ajax but was still officially a player for RB Leipzig. He quickly made an impact, scoring two goals in his first game back on January 16, 2022, helping Ajax win 3–0 against FC Utrecht.

On July 22, 2022, Brian officially rejoined Ajax with a five-year contract. He quickly showed his scoring ability, netting a goal in his first game back on August 6, 2022. He had a fantastic run in October 2022, scoring two goals in two different matches. These "braces" helped Ajax win big games, like 7–1 against Excelsior and 4–1 against RKC Waalwijk. During the 2022–23 season, Brian scored 14 goals in 44 games. He was a key player, often starting matches. In the 2023–24 season, Brian became the top scorer for Ajax, with 22 goals in 43 games. He was even named the Ajax Player of the Year! He also won the Eredivisie Player of the Month award twice in a row, in December 2023 and January 2024. He continued to play for Ajax in the 2024–25 season. His coach, Francesco Farioli, praised his progress and importance to the team. Brian scored goals in both the Eredivisie and the UEFA Europa League that season, and he won another Eredivisie Player of the Month award in February 2025.

New Adventures: Playing for Sunderland

On September 1, 2025, Brian moved to England to play for Sunderland. He quickly made his mark, scoring his first goal for the club on November 8, 2025. It was an important goal, an equalizer in injury time, helping Sunderland draw 2–2 against Arsenal. He finished the 2025–26 season as Sunderland's top goal scorer, with seven goals.

Representing the Netherlands: International Football

Playing for Youth National Teams

Brian played for the Netherlands at many different youth levels. He was a very important player for the Netherlands U17 team. He helped his team win the UEFA European Under-17 Championship twice in a row, in 2018 and 2019! In the 2019 final against Italy, he even scored a goal in their 4–2 victory, helping them lift the trophy.

Playing for the Senior National Team

Brian was first called up to the main Netherlands national team in October 2023. He made his official debut on October 16, 2023, in a match against Greece, which the Netherlands won 1–0. In May 2024, Brian was chosen to be part of the Netherlands squad for UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany. His team reached the semi-finals of this big tournament. He scored his first goal for the senior national team on November 19, 2024, in a game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Brian was also selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad on May 27, 2026. In his very first World Cup start on June 20, 2026, he scored two goals, known as a "brace," within the first 17 minutes! This helped the Netherlands win 5–1 against Sweden. He became only the second Dutch player ever to score two goals in his first World Cup start. He scored another goal on June 25, 2026, in a 3-1 win against Tunisia.

Brian was born in the Netherlands, but his family comes from Ghana. He has two older brothers, Kevin Brobbey and Samuel Brobbey, who are also footballers. Derrick Luckassen is his half-brother.
