Bridges Creek is a small stream located in the southeastern part of Ozark County, in southern Missouri. This area is known as the Ozarks, a beautiful region with hills and forests. Bridges Creek is a smaller water flow that eventually joins a larger one, the North Fork River.

Where Does Bridges Creek Begin?

Bridges Creek actually starts when two smaller streams meet. These are called North Bridges Creek and South Bridges Creek.

North Bridges Creek

The North Bridges Creek begins in Howell County. This is just west of a place called Caulfield. It's also south of a main road, U.S. Route 160. This northern branch then flows southwest. It crosses into Ozark County and passes by the town of Elijah.

South Bridges Creek

The South Bridges Creek also starts in Howell County. It begins south of Caulfield, very close to Missouri Route 101. This southern branch also flows southwest.

Joining Together

Both the North and South Bridges Creeks are about five miles long. They flow separately for a bit, then they meet up. When they join, they form the main Bridges Creek.

Where Does Bridges Creek Flow?

After the two branches come together, Bridges Creek continues to flow southwest. Its journey ends when it flows into Norfork Lake. This lake is a large body of water created by a dam.

The creek enters Norfork Lake about two miles south of Tecumseh. It's also just north of another small place called Udall.

How Did Bridges Creek Get Its Name?

Bridges Creek is named after an early settler in the area. A person named Mr. Bridge was a pioneer citizen. The creek was named in his honor.
