Broadwater has some interesting history! A long time ago, in 1865, a big event called the Battle of Rush Creek happened about 4 miles southeast of where Broadwater is today. This battle was between the U.S. Army and warriors from the Cheyenne, Lakota Sioux, and Arapaho Native American tribes. It took place near where Cedar Creek flows into the North Platte River.
The village of Broadwater itself started in 1909. This was when the railroad tracks were built and reached this spot. The village was named after a person called General Broadwater, who was a friend of one of the railroad officials.
